Variations on a theme
![]() The blog, as we know, is a highly flexible concept. A recent conversation got me thinking about some specific variations on the theme. I am absolutely certain others will have explored these ideas before me, but I offer them in good faith. I know that someone has already come up with at least one of the possible names for a variation below - I've linked to the original to acknowledge the fact. couplog - a completely private blog between two people, closed to all external access - a private forum for shared thoughts, fears, feelings, emotions, triumphs, and so on. A couplog would require complete trust between the two participants, an agreement that either could close it down at any time, and indeed, agreement that either could delete it at any time (within the constraints of what it means to delete anything from the internet!). I have no doubt that out there are successful examples of couplogs out there in blogland already. [I should note that, according to Google, the word couplog has also been used to describe "a blog of printable local coupons and supermarket coupons."] A variation on the couplog might be the doublog. doublog - used by two people collaborating on a joint project of some kind. They could choose whether or not the doublog is open to others to view, or closed for their own private use. I guess that these names might be extended, on the same principle, to triplogs and grouplogs - the University of Bath has certainly used the latter as the name for a project based on a similar idea. Just thinking out loud..... |
