7 facts about me to bore you with (and a note on the nature of the exponential)

I have been tagged by Jenny Luca and Angela Maiers to list seven things that people are unlikely to know about me. So, from my 51 years of breathless excitement and living on the edge, I offer the following:

I can balance (almost) anything (longer than a couple of feet) on the tip of my finger
I learned how to control hiccups when in my teens – I have not had hiccups for longer than 20 or 30 seconds since I was around 15
I drink tea more or less constantly (except when I’m drinking wine or beer)
I write songs
I somehow managed to win a number of pool (billiards, not swimming) competitions in the (distant) past
I cannot swim (except under water)
I almost drowned when I was 7 years old, in Lake Erie, Canada

I guess those last two might be connected

So, now I have to tag seven others; they are:

Postscript – Memes such as this one are nice, fun ways for the blogging community to get to know a little of each other beyond what we can glean from the blogs themselves, and only the terminally grumpy or the conceitedly precious would find them insufferable. I enjoy reading them, and I have no problem joining in when tagged.

However, I would ask anyone thinking of kicking such a meme off to ponder the effects of the exponential before they start. This meme, for instance, asks each person tagged to tag seven others – what this means is that, assuming the first round involves the single person who starts the ball rolling, and also, for the sake of argument, assuming that each blogger can only be tagged once, after just 5 rounds of the meme, some 2801 bloggers will have been tagged; after 10 rounds, the figure reaches 47,079,208!! So, those who suddenly find themselves being tagged many times should not assume that it is a measure of their popularity – merely the result of being tagged just a few rounds into the meme.
