Not everyone agrees with Cuban, of course. See Musings of a VC in NYC and The Lefsetz Letter for two good examples amongst many who have taken up the cudgels on behalf of Youtube.
Whatever we might think of the Youtube phenomenon – and there’s no doubting the site’s massive fan base – I believe Cuban’s hard-nosed analysis is more likely to be proven right in time. Those who have copyright want to control and they will see Youtube as something that has to be controlled, by whatever means.
