Teachmeet….LeadMeet…..TreeMeet? And now GregMeet!

I’ve had some great responses to my recent posts (here and here) on possible extensions or alternatives to the venerable and valuable TeachMeet concept. A small head of steam seems to be building in favour of holding an informal gathering at the Scottish Learning Festival later this month – no details worked out yet – to give the subject a wider airing and to give anyone attending SLF the chance to join the conversation.

But, if anyone fears the demise of TeachMeet any time soon, the most recent example of the phenomenon should allay any such anxiety – TreeMeet. I kid you not! Leon Cych explains…….

In the meantime, let me be the first to mention yet another variation on the theme: GregMeet. Greg Whitby, pioneering CEO of Parrammatta Catholic Schools in Sydney, Australia has agreed to take a couple of hours out of his visit to Glasgow in October to meet and talk with anyone who wants to come along and make his acquaintance. The afternoon of 13th October is the date; Learning and Teaching Scotland’s Optima HQ in Glasgow city centre is the venue; final details, probably in the now-traditional wiki format, will be publicised when ready.

Greg writes a great blog – bluyonder – get it into your RSS feed if it’s not already there.

We hope to persuade Greg to speak for 15 or 20 minutes after which the floor will be opened up for what I know will be a wide-ranging and stimulating discussion. Having heard Greg speak a couple of times now, this will be one not to miss. So, watch out for details.

I subscribe to greg’s blog as well and his recent post on parent internet usage really hit a nerve for me. Hope the “event” goes well.
