The point is not to interpret the world but to change it.

The Greg Effect…and the effect on Greg

Posted on | October 16, 2009 | 2 Comments

So, GregMeet came and went, and it seems to have been a big success. I’m grateful to my friends at LTS, especially Con Morris (who, by the way, was not told that he could not sing at the start!), for stepping in when I found out that I would not be able to attend in person because of a work commitment. I have since been able to watch the whole thing via FlashMeeting (thanks to David Noble for organising this) and the experience left me wishing all the more that I could have been there in person.

Greg Whitby, as I know from previous encounters with him in his home country and on his own patch, is a passionate and highly personable speaker, and I think the audience in The Optima and online rather enjoyed his contribution. As he always manages to do, Greg squeezed a vast range of issues into his talk (most of which you can delve into further via his blog, Bluyonder), but a few of those present have taken the chance through their blogs to digest and comment on his words. To date, the following have commented:

If the event had a good effect on the audience, I can report that it also had a big effect on the speaker. I had dinner with Greg later the same evening (along with his colleagues from Australia) and he expressed his delight at the intelligence, dedication and passion that was reflected back to him from everyone invlolved, whether in the room or via FlashMeet. He called it, “…an amazing experience…”

That’s what I like to hear!
