The Best Live Band I Ever Saw Will NOT Be Re-Forming

Thanks to clandestinesoundlab for the pic.

The best live band I ever saw were The Faces – Ronnie Wood, Ronnie Lane, Kenney Jones, Ian McLagan, Rod Stewart – I saw them three times in the early ‘Seventies at the old Apollo Theatre in Glasgow. They were raucous, rough and only rarely entirely together – but they made great music, had lots of fun, and each gig was hugely memorable.

So, imagine my reaction when I started to read the other day that The Faces were thinking of re-forming to play a gig at the Goodwood Festival in August. Okay, so Ronnie Lane couldn’t be there, given that he died more then a decade ago, but it would be wonderful to see Stewart, Woods, Jones and McLagan back together again.

And then I read further……

….while fans of the Faces will welcome news that the band is to reform, they may be left scratching their heads at its new lead singer, former Simply Red frontman and silky-voiced ladies’ man Mick Hucknall.

That just about sums it up John and to be honest i Saw Rod and his touring band play Stay With Me in Manchester this week and I am sure that version will be closer to the Faces than the new Faces will ever get with the new LV.
