Global differences pictured…

The blog Cottleston Pie pointed me towards a very interesting site called Worldmapper – “The world as you’ve never seen it before” reads the strapline – and it’s right!
This site offers world maps that have been distorted for each region to represent differences across a wide range of parameters – more than 300 maps can be viewed covering education, health, services, food, violence, pollution, communication and a whole pile of others (some categories are still blank but, I presume, are work in progress). I offer three examples here to show how it works.
But go see for yourself…..

Thanks John!
One of our teachers is in the process of printing a bunch of the .pdf posters (which contain even more information on each map) and setting up a bulletin board of them in her room.
