Cisco (Non-)Tech Chat in Second Life

Posted on | February 24, 2008 | No Comments

I have been asked by Cisco to deliver a talk in Second Life on ‘Learning 2.0′, as part of their series of Tech Chats. The date to remember is 13th March, and the time is Noon Pacific time (8.00pm GMT). I’m working on my talk and can say already that it will not be very ‘tech’ at all, but it will delve into many of the key issues and questions around social technologies and their relationship to the shifts in educational thinking and practice going on at the present time.

It will be aimed mainly at an audience who are not necessarily conversant with the breadth and depth of thinking happening of late around the subject, but I will seek to cover quite a bit of ground in the space of an hour or so. It would be great to know that I might have some friends in the audience who can join me in the conversation – or indeed who can help me make it a conversation rather than simply a lecture.

If you have not yet joined Second Life, why not download the software, get yourself an avatar, and step out of this physically-bounded First Life on occasions? Once you have the software installed, you need to register an avatar.

To be able to use audio (to speak, to listen to others….to hear my talk…) you need to follow the instructions for setting up voice in SL.

I will post a reminder or two close to the time, and I will give the link to the Cisco Bandwidth Stage where the event will be heard.

I look forward to seeing some of you there.
