Time for a (Tech) Chat!
Posted on | March 13, 2008 | 5 Comments

I will be talking on Second Life about Learning 2.0 at 7.00pm GMT this evening (Thursday 13th March) – anyone interested in joining me will be made very welcome indeed. The clocks above will help you coordinate depending on where you are in the world.
It takes place at the Cisco Bandwidth Stage – if you have Second Life running, this link will take you straight there. Make sure you have voice enabled (Second Life Preferences – Voice Chat) to be able to listen and to join in. I will be speaking through my Cisco avatar, but will also have my own usual avatar on hand so that anyone can befriend me and then IM me during the talk and the discussion – a little back channel for anyone to use. Come and heckle!
SLIDEWARE: – The slides I will be using on Second Life are very basic – text-only – slides. Full versions are available for download if you are interested in viewing them – one in Keynote (17.5mb), and one in Powerpoint (15mb).

Hi John
Got there and thought I was doing ok – but for some reason just couldn’t hear anything. I could hear the voice of the heckler who walked across the stage at one point – but nothing from you! Ah well … never mind. One of the mysteries in life that I’ll sort out one day. Hope it went OK and there was good discussion.

I didn;t even notice the heckler – too busy concentrating on what i was saying – what happened?
I’ll make the podcast available here tomorrow.

Great John … key points for me were your RF Mackenzie quotes and those from Ivan Illich also the excellent Paulo Friere … and … ‘The Web is the learning platform’ … excellent.

Thanks, Doug – much appreciated. I have to say I found it quite a tough ‘gig’ for some reason – give me an auditorium with 1000 people in it any time!

It was wonderful to see you ‘in world’ and to hear you talking again so ardently and with such insight about technology, Web 2.0 and issues close to my Australian educational heart! Thanks very much…and looking forward to more of the same
Tough? you were cool as a cucumber!
